To be eligible for a year-end ranking, a player must be a current member of Tennis BC and be a resident of British Columbia. Non BC residents are now included in the ranking system. To be ranked a player must compete in a sanctioned event.
Tennis BC’s Ranking System changed in 2008 to reflect feedback from players and tournament directors. Their goal is to have the system reflect the relative merit of all players in the system. The main change is that instead of basing a player’s ranking on the total number of points accumulated during the year, the ranking will be more closely tied to the player’s usual tournament performance, weighted for participation.
Base Point Awards
The points awarded for a player’s progress in a tournament have not changed. When a person plays in a sanctioned event, they earn base points according to how far you progressed in the draw.
